ELECTION DAY

There is a whole lot more politickin' on my other blog. I may even try my hand at live blogging there, if I am not self-medicating.

I voted. My polling place is in the cafeteria of Gwennie's school. I asked her teacher if she would excuse her to watch me vote. She said yes.

I was waiting in line for my ballot, when I noticed a few people with Kerry pins on looking around defiantly. Ignoring them, I asked my daughter who we were voting for President. She's kind of quiet, so she hesitated giving the answer. I said, "We're voting for George Bush." She gave me a puzzled look and then said, "No, mommy. We're voting for George W. Bush." Everyone around us laughed. The Kerry folks set their jaws and looked outnumbered.

I had considered voting straight Republican, but there was one Libertarian candidate that I wanted to vote for, so I filled out all of the little circles. Most of the races were uncontested Republicans. This is serious Bush country. Democrats don't even run anymore. I think there were more Libertarian candidates than Dems.

Anyway, I'm very proud to have voted, and I'm very proud that my daughter stood up to the Kerrywankers.

They are supposed to wear those pins in there. can't wear anything politically related into the voting area. I wonder how they got away with it.
Anyway good for you! I voted too! For Bush!
Am I the only one with knots in my stomach waiting for the results??

Thanks for voting. Did you know that the Libertarian guy from Texas is on the ballot in 45 states and Nader is only on 39? So much for the great conspiracy theory. We all know that Nader takes votes from Kerry, which is a good thing. If there really was some dirty deeds afoot, the powers that be would have made sure he was on the ballot in each and every state.

Now, more important: Plase tell me you took, and will post, some pictures of you without that damn raincoat on...you drooling fans await. (Much respect to Jethro.)

I was going to say the same thing, that they arent allowed in the polling place, at least not in minnesota. They actually asked me to take off my Bush button. I was sorta taken aback, its not like i was openly campaigning or engaging anyone in conversation to convert them to my side. I was just proud of my choice, nevertheless, i took it off without a fuss, pocketed it and immediately put it back on when outside the doors. All over our state, move on . org was infringing on the 100 ft rule ... grrr

You know, I couldn't give a shit whether someone wears a sticker or a button. Bumper sticker your ass for all I care. It's a free country, dammit. If you're going to be persuaded at the last minute to vote for another candidate just because someone is wearing a button, I can guarantee that you are too stupid to vote.
